Radiochemical laboratory (FNSPE CTU) – The radiochemical laboratory at the FNSPE has been cooperating with NPI for a long time to introduce accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) in the Czech Republic (RAMSES project), where it participates in the development of the AMS method and its use in analysing various types of samples. FNSPE is able to involve the complex of its radiochemical laboratories and the AMS related infrastructure in the development of new sample treatment methods for AMS, both by supporting sample preparation for radiocarbon and other types of dating, and by participating in development and research of unique methods using other nuclides or radiotracers in HS. AMS development on an international level is currently focusing on minimizing radiocarbon samples, reducing background noise for all AMS nuclides and on searching for new, perspective radionuclides to be used in analysing artefacts and environmental samples; FNSPE is participating in such developments requiring knowledge and experience in the analysis and behaviour of (ultra)trace radionuclides.
