ELSM – Expert Laboratory of Structural Mechanics (FCE CTU) – Static and dynamic structural testing and analysis are essential components in the process of diagnosis, safety assessment, and validation of interventions aimed at safeguarding architectural heritage. ELSM is capable of providing complex static and dynamic structural evaluation of historic constructions, including experimental identification of free and forced vibration characteristics on a structural (building) scale, acquisition of input and validation data for finite element (FE) analysis, direct assessment of measured levels of forced vibrations of a load-bearing structure in terms of the ultimate and serviceability limit states, and numerical modelling and analysis of structures using the FE method. ELSM operates a unique dynamic identification set-up, which is capable of simultaneous high-sensitivity measurements of low amplitude and high amplitude vibrations in a dynamic range of 160 dB (conventional devices operate in a range up to 130 dB).
